On the evening of Monday 4th January 2021, Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister announced that there will be a national lockdown in England, Scotland and Wales. England will be in lockdown at least until the middle of February 2021 and Scotland and Wales will also be in lockdown at least until the end of January 2021. This means that all driving lessons, theory tests and driving tests will not be allowed to continue until at least after these given dates. Any learner driver that has their car theory test expiring within that time would not be allowed to take a practical driving test when the driving test centres re-open and would therefore be required to re-sit their theory test.
Shall I book a car theory test now or wait till the lockdown is over?
We would advise you to book your car theory test as soon as you can for a month or two away as the waiting list for the car theory tests are growing rapidly on a daily basis as more and more learner drivers are realising that either their theory test will expire before they can take a practical driving test or that if they don’t book a car theory test now they might have to end up waiting several more months. If you book your car theory test a month or two away and the lockdown continues then you can always reschedule your car theory test to a later date but do bear in mind that you should give the DVSA at least 3 working days’ notice otherwise you may end up forfeiting your theory test fee.
I have passed my theory test before so I am sure I won’t need to study again when I re-sit my next theory test, right?
Please be aware that car theory tests have a pass rate of less than 50% so if you have passed the car theory test in the past and need to re-take the car theory test then this does not mean that you will pass it again without further study and practice. We recommend practicing all the car theory test questions several times including practising the hazard perception videos and the case studies too. You can revise and practice for the car theory test by using our website www.bsltheorytest.co.uk so when we do come out of lockdown you will be more prepared to pass the car theory test. The car theory test comprises of 14 subjects as well as the hazard perception videos and the new video case studies.
The 14 subjects that you are expected to cover on the car theory test are:
Alertness, Attitude, Safety and your Vehicle, Safety Margins, Hazard Awareness, Vulnerable Road Users, Other Types of Vehicle, Vehicle Handling, Motorway Rules, Rules of the Road, Road and Traffic Signs, Essential Documents, Incidents – Accidents – Emergencies and finally Vehicle Loading.
It is also important that you study the highway code too as this has essential information that will be useful for both learning and understanding the car theory test as well as on the road information.
Benefits of using BSL Theory Test to help you pass the car theory test.
We recommend using BSL Theory Test as BSL Theory Test is the only car theory test website in the UK that has thousands of added pictures deigned to help you understand a lot of the trickier questions that are so frequently found on the real car theory test. On many occasions, theory test candidates find themselves confused as to what certain words on the car theory test mean, for example: windscreen pillars, catalytic converter, higher and lower gear etc. If you are not sure what these are then it is a lot harder to answer these questions without just simply guessing. BSL Theory Test has added pictures of all these difficult words so that the learner driver can be sure to understand exactly what the question is about and is more likely to get the question right.
It can only get better…
The last 10 months have been a turbulent year for learner drivers and their driving instructors, but it does now feel that due to the increase in recent COVID-19 vaccinations we are starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel.
